ALM Partners Group underwent changes in employee ownership in autumn 2023 to support future growth. Through the implemented employee share issue, the total number of employee shareholders increased to 59, and our strong employee ownership is now 85%.
Additionally, the board of ALM Partners Group was expanded and renewed in February 2024 to support future skill requirements and growth. The new board consists of seven strong professionals, six of whom joined ALM Partners Group as new board members. This article presents the principles of board work and the members selected for the board.

Board of ALM Partners Group
ALM Partners Group’s Board of Directors consists of seven strong professionals in our field who bring their own strong and independent expertise to the development of ALM Partners Group. ALM Partners Group invests in active and modern board work, where the Board is responsible for the Group’s key strategic decisions and at the same time acts as a strong support for the operative management in promoting business growth.
Magnus Weurlander, Chairman of the Board. Magnus is an Executive Advisor and an experienced board professional who, as Chairman of the Board, ensures the efficiency of the Board’s work. He has strong and first-hand knowledge of the Nordic banking and system supplier field. Magnus’ experience in strategy work and banking, risk management and regulatory reporting strongly supports ALM Partners’ growth goals.
Outi Henriksson, Member of the Board. Outi’s main job is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Aktia Bank plc. She brings extensive expertise in financial management, corporate transactions and board work to ALM Partners’ Board. Outi’s long-term experience as CFO in several industries, as well as as a board member of many listed and unlisted companies in the Nordic countries, strengthens ALM Partners’ expertise in board and strategy work.
Kai Koskela, Member of the Board. Kai works as the Savings Banks Group’s Chief Strategy and Development Officer. In addition, he is deputy to the CEO of the Savings Banks Association. He has strong experience in strategy, digitalization, project and business management in the Finnish banking field. As a member of the Board of Directors, Kai’s value is emphasized in the development of ALM Partners’ delivery capabilities and in the preparation of a growth strategy.
Ilkka Lähteenmäki, Member of the Board. Ilkka is a docent, researcher in sustainability reporting and currently works as a researcher at Hanken. He has a long background in various management and technology consulting positions in banking as well as in board work. His expertise in sustainability reporting and monitoring of new technologies and actors in the financial sector play an important role in ALM Partners’ strategy work.
Jaakko Pulli, Member of the Board. Jaakko is the CEO of POP Bank Group. He brings with him long-term and strong expertise and experience in banking, regulation and risk management. is extensive professional skills in leading the evolving banking business, risk management, and reporting requirements strongly support ALM Partners’ growth strategy.
Risto Tammela, Member of the Board. Risto is one of the founding shareholders and main owners of ALM Partners Group, working as ALM Partners’ Chief Technology Officer (CTO). His product and technology expertise combined with comprehensive knowledge of banking business plays a key role in shaping ALM Partners’ growth strategy.
Petteri Varnanen, Member of the Board. Petteri is a professional in the financial sector and his main job is the CEO of Sp-rahastoyhtiö Oy. He brings his expertise in investment, financing, mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance to the Board work. His experience in e.g. board work, the financial industry, strategy processes and financing arrangements provide important perspectives in identifying growth opportunities.
CEO and Secretary of the Board:
Aaro Mäkelä, CEO. Aaro continues as the CEO of ALM Partners Group, as a presenter at Board meetings and as one of the main owners. Aaro is also serves as the chairman of the Finnish Reserve Officers’ Association.
Tuomo Siivinen, Secretary of the Board. Tuomo is a Partner of ALM Partners Group and serves as the secretary of both the Board of Directors and the Management Team in the Group. In addition to his expertise in board work, Tuomo has 10 years of experience in ALM Partners Group’s key risk management, customer relationship and expert team management positions.
